Sayhaey had a strong idea: create affordable (within social-rent levels), high-quality homes for people who struggle to find a place of their own. The concept worked. There was a financial model, a clear societal need and proof from practice.
But the story was not yet being felt. Sayhaey was not just a solution to housing shortages. It was about what having a place of your own means.
For young people, first-time renters and people in urgent need of housing in Amsterdam Zuidoost, having a home of their own often felt out of reach. Rents were too high, waiting lists too long and the step towards independence too big.
Sayhaey offered an alternative: affordable, high-quality homes with societal impact. But to grow, the story had to work on two levels.
Residents needed to feel what a place of their own could mean. Investors needed to see that Sayhaey was not only societally desirable, but financially and operationally sound.
The real question became: how do you make people feel that a home gives someone the space to make something of their life?
The breakthrough was to move from property to life. Not starting with bricks, square metres, returns or housing shortages. But with the human need for a place of your own.
That shifted Sayhaey’s role:
From: housing concept.
To: platform with a societal promise.
The central idea became:
Everyone deserves a place of their own.
A place of your own is more than somewhere to live. It is a foundation. A safe place to rest, make plans, build relationships and take the next step in life.
The narrative gave Sayhaey one foundation for brand, film, website, visual identity and investor communications.
The movement came by shifting from housing solution to societal promise.
From: homes are available.
To: here, you get the chance to move forward.
For residents, the story made tangible how a place of your own can mark the beginning of a new chapter. For investors, it showed that investing in Sayhaey is not simply about property, but about people who deserve a fair chance.
