We live in a world that is becoming ever more complex. Products travel thousands of miles, change owners, packaging and destinations yet the information about those products often becomes fragmented along the way. GS1 is the global organisation that ensures all product data is captured and shared in one consistent way. From food to medical devices, from fashion to logistics. Without GS1, systems can’t understand each other. And without that shared language, the supply chain grinds to a halt.
More than fifty years ago, GS1 began with the introduction of the barcode: a simple but revolutionary way to make products identifiable anywhere in the world. Today, that barcode has evolved into a QR code powered by GS1; the future key to reliable, transparent and sustainable supply chains. GS1 now plays a crucial role in themes that move our economy forward: traceability, circularity, food safety and responsible business. It is the quiet force behind the systems that keep our society running.
In the campaign “Without agreements, no progress. It’s time for GS1”, we translated this abstract world of data and standards into a relatable, human story. The manifesto forms the backbone of the campaign: a call to build a future together in which organisations speak the same language and data becomes the bridge between efficiency, transparency and sustainability. From radio commercials to motorway billboards and ads in national newspapers, the campaign makes visible how sharing product data in a consistent way helps the world move forward.
